There really should not be a problem as long as you know which peripheral is plugged into which port. If you are going to use a fathometer this will have to plug into a COMs port, probably remove the Garmin from COMs 5. In general the GPS OmniStar Data port A is in COMs Port 3, Data Port B will be COMs 4, Garmin GPS is in COMs 5 and the Magnetometer is in COMs 6. HyperTeminal COMs Port Issues If you are using the desktop PC, it has four COMs ports (3, 4, 5 & 6 on two additional plug in cards) and an array of USB ports.
